Welcome to Lancaster Yarn Shop's Class & Workshop Blog!

Lancaster Yarn Shop offers a variety of classes and FREE workshops for fiber artists of all skill levels, from Absolute Beginner to Extremely Accomplished. The emphasis is on celebrating the tradition of knitting and handwork (and learning cool new stuff!) in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Classes and Free Workshops are held at the Yarn Shop in our beautiful upstairs studio at 3519 Old Philadelphia Pike in Intercourse, Lancaster County, PA. (HERE for directions). There is plenty of free parking, and we are just steps from the terrific restaurants and great shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village. Classes are taught by our experienced and knowledgeable instructors and classified by skill level.

Tuesday, October 4th: Pumpkin Hat Workshop


Announcing our next Free Knitting Workshop! Join us on Tuesday, October 4th for an Intermediate Level Knitting Workshop!  A friendly introduction to the fun of making a simple hat in the round. Our Favorite Pumpkin hat EVER!  Simple modifications allow this hat to be be knit to fit a baby, child or adult. 


Project:  Pumpkin Hat 
Date:  Tuesday, October 4
Time:  9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Skill Level: Intermediate.
Skills Required: Basic Knitting skills necessary.  Must know how to cast on & knit. 
Techniques Taught: Material selection, long-tail cast on, the knit stitch, shaping  & how to finish off a dear i-cord top.
Materials:  Will be determined by SIZE hat being knitted.  Worsted weight wool yarn, 16" circular US #8 needles, one set US#8 dpns.
