Welcome to Lancaster Yarn Shop's Class & Workshop Blog!

Lancaster Yarn Shop offers a variety of classes and FREE workshops for fiber artists of all skill levels, from Absolute Beginner to Extremely Accomplished. The emphasis is on celebrating the tradition of knitting and handwork (and learning cool new stuff!) in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Classes and Free Workshops are held at the Yarn Shop in our beautiful upstairs studio at 3519 Old Philadelphia Pike in Intercourse, Lancaster County, PA. (HERE for directions). There is plenty of free parking, and we are just steps from the terrific restaurants and great shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village. Classes are taught by our experienced and knowledgeable instructors and classified by skill level.

Announcing another FREE Knitting Workshop! Join us on Saturday, May 14th for an Introduction to Entrelac Knitting.  Learn the basics of entrelac knitting with this simple scarf project.

Project: Entrelac Scarf

Time:    12:30 - 2:30 

Entrelac is a knitting technique used to create a textured diamond pattern. The knitted fabric resembles basket-woven strips but is really interconnected squares.  The pattern emerges like magic; you won’t believe your eyes!  A self-striping yarn enhances this amazing stitch pattern.
 
Skill Level:  Intermediate/Extreme
Skills Required: Complete understanding of knitting, purling. 
Pattern Requirements:US #8 needles, & 300-500 yards worsted weight yarn  
Techniques Taught:  K2tog, P2tog, & pick up stitches.

Materials for Free Workshops at LYS must be purchased at LYS. Thanks!  You may bring & use your own tools & needles. Please bring a variety of needle sizes, as your 'mileage' may vary!
